This is another piece I really love. I layered the outside of this vase with different colored slips made with mason stains. Tulips were blooming,, so, ok,, tulips. It really is lovely,,

Interesting piece here! I have no idea were the red come from! There is red iron oxide decoration on the shino, which could be a factor. Potters say “Shino first or pots be cursed,” which means if your using shino to glaze make sure you apply it first and anything else goes on top. however, i use oxide washes over shino all the time, and never had a problem. oh well! Its a mystery!

Beautiful marbled porcelain soda fired vase
This piece I wedged cobalt carbonate into porcelain clay until completely incorporated. Then I gently wedged white porcelain into the cobalt clay, maybe 6 or 7 turns. Than I threw the vase. Once completed< I trimmed the from which reveals the marbled pattern. Cool! ( I also have a bowl in this style)
